At the 1936 Winter Olympics at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, alpine skiing was arranged for the first time in the Olympics, a combined event for men and women.

The women's event was held on Friday, February 7 (downhill) and on Saturday, February 8 (slalom) and the men's event was held on Friday, February 7 (downhill) and on Sunday, February 9 (slalom).
