Unreferenced BLPs

Information.svg Hello Aeternus! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 798 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Jose Aranda

Hello, I see you replaced a CSD tag on an article. We do not do this. The article is sourced, asserts significance, and is not promotional. Not sure it would pass WP:AFD, but that would likely be the best place to sift matters. Dlohcierekim 00:43, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Sociology Newsletter: II (April 2010)

Sociology ProjectNews • April 2010
Spreading the meme since August 2006

The Sociology WikiProject is conducting a roll call (or min-census, if you prefer). More then five years down the road, we have over 50 members, but we don't know how many of them are still active in the sociology area. If you are or want to become once again an active contributor to the sociology content on Wikipedia, please move your name from the inactive to the active list on our roll call (or add yourself to the list if you haven't joined yet!).

In other news, we have reactivated the newsletter :) At least, for this announcement. We also have a new, automated to do listing, an active tag and assess project (which has identified about 1,800 sociology articles on Wikipedia, and assessed about 1,3000 of them), and three new userboxes for your self-identification pleasure :) On a final note, I highly recommend watchlisting the Wikipedia:WikiProject Sociology page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions.

You have received this newsletter because you are listed as a recipient of WikiProject Sociology Newsletter (Opt-out). • signed

Wikipedia Reviewer.svg

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 02:22, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Eurasian Island

Hi

Strangely enough that is one term that we normally say "a Eurasian" rather than "an Eurasian" (Cyprus edits):

A Eurasian (Google = About 3,580,000 results (0.62 seconds))
An Eurasian (Google = About 2,400,000 results (0.31 seconds))

As for the correct term I am unclear as whether it should be written as spoken or whether it should be as is after your edit

Simon Augustini

Hello, Aeternus. I've just come across this article, which you created a couple of years ago. It still needs references, but I know nothing about him - can you help? Markiewp (talk) 20:08, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

It's original research. --Λeternus (talk) 22:51, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

Ah, well he seems clearly notable from what's in the article. If you come across anything from a reliable source, then add it and I'll see if I can find anything. Markiewp (talk) 08:12, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Bono on Bono.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Bono on Bono.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. WikiProject Sociology membership

You are listed in the Category:Wikipedians interested in sociology, probably due to the use of "This user is interested in sociology" userbox, but you have not added yourself to our official member list for WikiProject Sociology. Hello

Hey Aeternus, I just thought I'd let you know that I saw your article Aura (The Alpha Conspiracy album) in the New Articles list-- The reference looks great. Periphery

Hi Aeternus, I noticed your changes in the genre of Periphery. I don't know Periphery at all, so it's hard for me to decide which genres should be added, but do you have any source for this? Past weeks I reverted some genre changes made by unregistered users, for know I assume good faith on your part, but it could help the article if we can find some good sources, limit the genres and keep it that way. Allmusic has a very different opinion on this bands genre, but as far as I'm concerned Allmusic isn't omniscient. Thanks, Quibus (talk) 12:47, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:NaveneK.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:NaveneK.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 01:48, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Krav maga

Whathehell? For you to know vandalism is a destroying something unreasonably.

Hagahan was paramilitary org (check its page) & it's target was to protect a newcomers to Palestine.

If you don't like it's only your problem

The problem was with the tone you used in the second part of the sentence. --Λeternus (talk) 07:24, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

There was no tone at all as they really used to protect themselfs from Palestinians & and that was hagahan for. Am I wrong? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.149.21.153 (talk) 07:33, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

In an encyclopedia, you don't refer to Jewish people as "Jews". This led me to believe that your whole edit was a vandalism. --Λeternus (talk) 07:38, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Then you were too prejudice and intolerant that didn't let you to read the edit more thoughtful & mislead with your conclusions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.149.21.153 (talk) 07:54, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Based on my experience on Wikipedia, most of the edits that contain derogatory terms appear to be vandalism. I'm sorry I didn't analyse your edit more carefully, but as I stated earlier, your tone led me to make my incorrect presumption. Please be more careful about the tone you choose when you edit the next time. Thanks. --Λeternus (talk) 08:03, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

I'm also sorry as I hoped to meet a Homo Sapiens that should analyze first & correct the tone if necessary to be more neutral but not in a time to vandalize by emotional impulse. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.149.21.153 (talk) 08:16, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:MarkBrydon.png

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:MarkBrydon.png. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 19:39, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 7

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Music, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Stephen Davies (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Steven Pinker

With your last revert you breached the {WP:3RR|3 revert rule]] for editwarring. I think you should go back and selfrevert, since breaking the 3 revert rule may lead to being blocked.·ʍaunus·snunɐw· 21:53, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

See how it is much easier to convince people that an edit makes sense through discussion and argumentation than through editwarring. This is obviously an important argument in Music cognition and apparently virtually everyone who is an actual expert disagrees with Pinker. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, and for contributing to improving the article. As an aside the article on Music cognition seems in a bad state, it is entirely about the effects of personality and mood on musical preferences (which is in fact rather psychology than cognition). Nothing about the neurological or cognitive substrate of musical behavior.·ʍaunus·snunɐw· 22:33, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
So far, cognitive neuroscience of music article contains the best information about the neurological and cognitive substrates of music perception and behavior. --Λeternus (talk) 23:37, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

December 2012

Your recent editing history at Steven Pinker shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Dougweller (talk) 22:01, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Ok, I see that you've been told above that you've breached 3RR. As you don't seem to have been warned in the past about 3RR I won't block, but please understand that you can't just wait 24 hours and repeat the same cycle. 3RR is not a right. Get consensus for this now please. Dougweller (talk) 22:05, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Continuum (Instrument) request

I saw that you had edited the Continuum (instrument) page in the past. I build the Continuum, and have information I think should be listed on the page -- I have waited for years, but nobody listed it. As I understand Wikipedia ethics, I am not supposed to edit the page -- so I added a request for someone to add the information on the Continuum (instrument) talk page. Unfortunately, the "page visits" counter tells me that the talk page does not get visited by anyone (except me). It would be wonderful if you could take a look at the Continuum (instrument) talk page, and either add the information (if you think its a good idea), or tell me what I should do next? thanks a lot, Lippold

PS: I will check back here to see if you write anything here; I will check the Talk page on the Continuum (instrument) page as well. If you like you can also email me Lippold@HakenAudio.com50.179.49.252 (talk) 01:12, 22 November 2013 (UTC)Lippold
