WeatherNation TV is a 24-hour weather TV network that broadcasts coverage of current weather forecasts and events.
Background
The network began as The Weather Cast, a television channel exclusive to Dish Network, replacing The Weather Channel during a carriage dispute for just four days in May 2010.
On March 30, 2011, WeatherNation announced that they would be relaunching their national weather channel, now called WeatherNation TV, beginning in the second quarter of 2011, with the member cable television systems of the National Cable Television Cooperative being the first to offer the new network.1 WeatherNation TV began broadcasting on the last week of July 2011.2 WeatherNation would gain at least one terrestrial TV outlet by October 2011, WHDT in Stuart, Florida, serving the West Palm Beach media market, with translators in Naples, Miami and Boston.3 WIYC in Montgomery, Alabama also started carrying WeatherNation in October 2011.4 In January of 2012, WeatherNation added affiliates in Minneapolis, Minnesota (KARE-TV);5 KMYA-DT in Little Rock, Arkansas; KFDF-CA in Fort Smith, Arkansas; and Springfield, Missouri.6 In early March 2012, LPTV station WTBS-LD brought the network to much of metro Atlanta on channel 26.3. On June 13, 2012, WSET-TV in Lynchburg, Virginia will start carrying it.7
