Jim Zeigler

Jim Zeigler (edit|talk|history|protect|delete|links|watch|logs|views) – (View AfD · Stats)
(Find sources: "Jim Zeigler" – books · scholar · JSTOR · free images)

This article is one big self-promotion, almost entirely edited by a single author, and seems to be nothing more than a promotional page. The subject asserts no significance, and the content is largely non-significant. This has been CSD'd before and denied with the administrator stating "terrible article, but there is a claim of importance and it's not irredeemable. plus, there are sources. take it to AfD if you like". Since then, no worthy changes have been made to make the article better, only the same author adding more promotional material. Further, the author has taken the page and copy-pasted the content onto "zeiglerstory.com" (author's name still intact as logged in), as further proof that this is nothing more than self-promotion with no signifigance. More, the primary author Zeiglereldercare, has been blocked as promotional. (talk) 04:17, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

  • Delete - Some pretty clear WP:AUTOBIO, WP:NOTPROMOTION issues here. Lots of low quality sources covering this guy, but I'm struggling to come up with any mainstream coverage. NickCT (talk) 13:31, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

  • Comment. The article is problematic for all the reasons cited above. However, as a former elected member of the Alabama Public Service Commission, a statewide elected office of considerable significance, Zeigler passes WP:POLITICIAN #1; see also [1] and the hundreds of Google results from the search string <zeigler alabama site:google.com/newspapers> . Stubbing or WP:TNT might be remedies of choice here. --Arxiloxos (talk) 16:03, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
    • User:Arxiloxos is probably right about re "WP:POLITICIAN #1". Frankly, I'm not sure I really like it rule. It seems that it would potentially capture all sorts of folks who were in fact not notable. Ah well..... maybe WP:TNT is the answer. NickCT (talk) 17:33, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

  • Redirect to Indian Springs School, no independent notability. GiantSnowman 19:14, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Keep - Several sources listed in both external links and several mentions - enough to fill out a page and more unincluded at this time. Its removal would result in a net negative for Wikipedia. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 20:06, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Keep as subject easily crosses the verifiability and notability thresholds. Among his many awards, being nationally recognized as the Youth Soccer Coach of the Year (for Boys) by the United States Youth Soccer Association is more than sufficient for notability. (Also, I have improved the sourcing and layout of this article since it was nominated.) - Dravecky (talk) 13:43, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Anniston Eastern Bypass

Expired PROD from 2008 (!) that was de-PRODded and not deleted. Concern then was "Unreferenced, non-notable transportation project" and that is still the case. –Fredddie 23:54, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

Apparently this article was undeleted by request at WP:REFUND#Anniston_Eastern_Bypass. Nevertheless, the notability concerns still apply. –Fredddie 00:19, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

  • Keep - This appears to be an important road that is being built by the Alabama Department of Transportation as State Route 192; it is also receiving stimulus funding from the ARRA which shows importance. (see here on page 36). The article does need a lot of improvement though. Dough4872 02:57, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
  • For the record the road is now known as the Veterans Memorial Parkway (see here). A Google search revealed several newspaper articles about the highway. Dough4872 03:18, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Apparently only the final stretch of the road is Veterans Memorial Parkway? - The Bushranger One ping only 22:32, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Weak Delete Subject is likely notable per WP:NGEOG, but the lack of RS sources means it fails WP:V. Also this article is so dated that as it stands it may no longer be factually accurate. It needs to be updated with reliable sources or it needs to go away. I have added the page to my watch list. If appropriate improvements are made I will be happy to change my vote. -Ad Orientem (talk) 03:07, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Keep Changing my !vote to reflect added sources. Article is still in serious need of updating though. -Ad Orientem (talk) 22:54, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Keep. It's a major road project that's had a fair amount of news coverage (e.g. [2]). If in the future it becomes part of US-431 it can be merged to that article. --NE2 10:57, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
  • CommentNE2 had this WP:REFUNDed, which is fine. However, when an older article like this is REFUNDed, it should be brought up to date as expeditiously as possible. If it's not going to be updated, the article will still have the same issues regarding lack of sources and borderline notability (as written the article doesn't demonstrate the notability of the roadway, even if it is notable). I'm inclined to keep this, but the article needs to be updated and cleaned up yesterday. Imzadi 1979  21:28, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Keep. While some updating is still needed, I've fully referenced the article: notability is established. - The Bushranger One ping only 22:32, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Charles Redding Pitt

Charles Redding Pitt (edit|talk|history|protect|delete|links|watch|logs|views) – (View AfD · Stats)
(Find sources: "Charles Redding Pitt" – books · scholar · JSTOR · free images)

I can only confirm that the first citation mentions the subject at all, and that one only mentions him in passing. Even setting aside the relative lack of citations, the subject is a garden variety bureaucrat and lawyer. Nothing in this article asserts any real notability. DELETE due to lack of notability. I think the fact that no one can even be bothered to comment on this article's deletion discussion speaks to the fact that the subject commands little to no notability. Bonewah (talk) 16:48, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
If no one comments on an AfD nomination within a reasonable length of time, it is normally closed as "no consensus", which results in the article being kept. James500 (talk) 20:11, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Delete- Appears to be two entries at politicalgraveyard, as Charles R. and as Redding, together, still no indication of notability, and unable to find coverage which would indicate otherwise. Bronze Star does not indicate it was for valor, and even if it were, a single fourth-tier award. No suitable destination for a redirect, ... Dru of Id (talk) 14:49, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

  • Keep as a (former) state chairman for a major political party. Searching "Redding Pitt" turned up [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], and so on. - Dravecky (talk) 12:26, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
Seems like pretty marginal stuff, but if you could work that into the article, i might be inclined to change my !vote. Bonewah (talk) 14:06, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Keep per my standards: chair of a major state party, United States Attorney, defense attorney in a 'wedding cake' trial, and member of the Democratic National Committee. Bearian (talk) 23:19, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Delete as lacking in depth coverage in independent sources. Stuartyeates (talk) 22:01, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
    • Comment: Please note the in-depth coverage I found about the subject in my !vote above. - Dravecky (talk) 22:09, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
      • Comment Also note that none of the 'in-depth coverage' mentioned has found a place into the article itself. Bonewah (talk) 16:44, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
